South Dakota Named the “Most Promising Destination” by Chinese Tourism Group
South Dakota was recently named the “Most Promising Destination” in the United States at a National Tourism Award Ceremony held by Tourism Media Group, an official partner of the China Travel Service Association.

South Dakota Celebrates National Travel and Tourism Week
The South Dakota Department of Tourism is aligning with the U.S. Travel Association, South Dakota communities, chambers of commerce and convention and visitors bureaus to celebrate National Travel and Tourism Week, May 6-12.

In 2017, visitor spending in South Dakota reached $3.85 billion, resulting in $2.59 billion in GDP and more than $290 million in state and local tax revenue. It was the eighth straight year of record growth in the state. A recent analysis shows that more than half of the counties in South Dakota saw an increase in visitor spending over 2016.
