The Burlington Northern Santé Fe Railroad Company will be repairing the railroad crossing on 6th Avenue and 5th Street in Aberdeen on Thursday, Nov. 2,starting at 7 a.m.


Wasta Rest Area Closing for Remodel Project

Needles Highway To Close For Two Days
The South Dakota Department of Transportation will be closing Highway 87 (Needles Highway) from the intersection of America Center Road to Sylvan Lake on Wednesday, Oct. 25.

Sign and Pavement Marking Upgrades Near Harrisburg
The South Dakota Department of Transportation will be completing sign and pavement marking upgrades at the intersection of Highway 115 and Lincoln County Road 116 (276th Street) south of Harrisburg on Wednesday, Oct. 25.


Department of Transportation Seeks Public Input into the I-29 Exit 62 to Exit 73 Corridor Study
The South Dakota Department of Transportation (SDDOT), in collaboration with the Sioux Falls Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) and Lincoln County, will hold a public open house on Tuesday, Oct.24, on the beginning of a corridor study for Interstate 29 from Exit 62 (US18/Canton) to Exit 73 (Lincoln Co. 106/Tea).

Phase 3 To Begin on 6th Street Construction
The South Dakota Department of Transportation says Phase 2 of the 6th Street project in Brookings is nearing completion and Phase 3 will begin on Monday, Oct. 23, depending on weather.

Paving Burr Street in Mitchell
The South Dakota Department of Transportation says the contractor will be paving the southbound lanes on Burr Street in Mitchell from Walgreens to Perkins on Monday, Oct. 16.

Laurel Street Sidewalk Modifications and Railroad Crossing Upgrade
Crews have begun work saw cutting the asphalt surfacing at the railroad crossing on Laurel Street in Whitewood. Traffic is being controlled by flaggers through the crossing with traffic being reduced to one lane.


Rice Street Traffic Shift
The South Dakota Department of Transportation says both east and westbound traffic on Rice Street in Sioux Falls will be shifted to the new alignment on Friday, Oct. 13.

Centerline Rumble Stripes in the Rapid City Region
The South Dakota Department of Transportation says work to install centerline rumble stripes throughout the Rapid City Region will begin Thursday, Oct. 12 in the following areas:


I-90 – Exit 14 – 27th Street Traffic Switch
The South Dakota Department of Transportation says two-way traffic is scheduled to be switched to the newly completed northbound lanes of 27th Street in Spearfish today (Sept. 29).


Bridge Deck Polymer Chip Seal to Begin
The South Dakota Department of Transportation says a project to apply a bridge deck polymer chip seal application to Blue Blanket Creek Bridge on Highway 1804 near Mobridge began today (Sept. 26).

Bridge Deck Replacement on Highway 34 over Chapelle Creek
The South Dakota Department of Transportation has closed the bridge over Chapelle Creek, approximately 20 miles east of Pierre on Highway 34, while the contractor replaces the bridge deck and guard rail.


Sidewalk Modifications and Railroad Crossing Upgrade In Whitewood
On Monday, Sept. 25, crews will begin work on the sidewalk, curb and gutter, and storm sewer at the intersection of Laurel Street and Hooker Street in Whitewood.


SDDOT Receives $25.7 Million in Additional Federal Funding

Department of Transportation Seeks Public Input into the I-90 Exit 61-67 Corridor Study
The South Dakota Department of Transportation (SDDOT), in collaboration with the Rapid City Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) and the city of Box Elder, will hold a public open house on Wednesday, Sept. 13, to inform area residents on the options being recommended as part of a roadway corridor study for I-90 from Exit 61 (Elk Vale Road) to Exit 67 (Liberty Boulevard / EAFB Main Gate).

I-29 - Russell Street Exit 81 Ramp Closure
On Thursday, Sept. 14, the South Dakota Department of Transportation will be closing the northbound entrance ramp at Interstate 29 from westbound Russell Street (Exit 81) in Sioux Falls to complete pavement repairs on this ramp.

Exit Ramp Pavement Marking Work on I-90 in Rapid City
On Wednesday, Sept. 13, crews will begin replacement of existing pavement markings on Interstate 90 between Deadwood Avenue and Liberty Boulevard at exits 55, 57, 58, 59, 60, 61, 63 and 67 in both the east and westbound lanes.


Topsoil and Seeding work on Highway 16 in Rapid City
On Wednesday, Sept. 13, crews will begin topsoil and seeding operations on Highway 16 from Catron Boulevard to Tower Road in Rapid City in both the north and southbound lanes to repair erosion areas.


Rice Street Traffic Shift
On Monday, Sept. 11, both west and east bound traffic will be shifted to the new Rice Street alignment west of Timberline Avenue in Sioux Falls. The traffic change will allow for remaining construction of the new realigned Rice Street.


Kingsway Road Intersection Modification Project to Begin in Pierre
The South Dakota Department of Transportation will begin modification of the intersection at Highway 14 and Kingsway Road in Pierre on Thursday, Sept. 7.

Pavement Repair on I-29 North Continues
On Tuesday, Sept. 5, the South Dakota Department of Transportation will begin repairing the northbound lanes on Interstate 29 from 12th Street (Exit 79) to Madison Street (Exit 81) in Sioux Falls.

Work on I-90 from Black Hawk to Box Elder
On Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2017, crews will begin topsoil and seeding operations on Interstate 90 from Black Hawk to Box Elder in both the eastbound and westbound lanes in order to repair erosion areas.


Highway 212 Box Culvert Repairs
On Tuesday, Sept. 5, the South Dakota Department of Transportation will begin making repairs to the box culvert on Highway 212, about 26 miles east of Newell.


Bridge Improvement Grant Recipients Announced
The South Dakota Transportation Commission awarded 26 Preliminary Engineering Bridge Improvement Grants (BIG) totaling approximately $1 million at their meeting today in Pierre.
