Work to Begin on Highways 37 and 14 in Huron
Reede Construction will begin work on the intersection of Highway 37 (Dakota Avenue) and Highway 14 in Huron on Monday, April 22.

Construction to Resume on Highway 115
Starting Monday, April 22, the South Dakota Department of Transportation (SDDOT) will resume reconstruction work on Highway 115 from 0.3 miles south of Lincoln County Highway 110 to 0.5 miles north of 272nd Street.


Construction on Highway 34 in Madison
The South Dakota Department of Transportation says the southbound lane of Highway 34 will be periodically closed from 2nd Street NE to 4th Street SE starting Thursday, April 18.

Highway 73 Asphalt Milling & Asphalt Resurfacing
Crews will begin asphalt milling on Highway 73 between the junction of Hugh Glass Road in Perkins County and the junction of Highway 12, beginning Tuesday, April 23.

Prep Work Has Begun on SD Highway 37 South of Mitchell
The South Dakota Department of Transportation says preparation work has begun on Highway 37 south of Mitchell for the eventual construction of turn lanes.

Bridge Work Begins on Interstate 90
The South Dakota Department of Transportation says project to repair six bridges on Interstate 90 will begin with the structure located three miles west of Exit 131 (Cactus Flats) on Tuesday, April 23.


I-90 Eastbound Closed at the Valley Springs Rest Area into Minnesota
The South Dakota Department of Transportation, in cooperation with the Minnesota Department of Transportation, will be closing eastbound I-90 from the Minnesota State line (Valley Springs rest area) to three miles east of I-90 Exit 1 in Minnesota beginning Thursday, April 18, 2019.

Box Culvert Replacement In Central City
The South Dakota Department of Transportation says the contractor is beginning to move in equipment for a project taking place in Central City beginning the week of April 22.

I-90 Construction at Piedmont Continues

The South Dakota Department of Transportation says work will begin on Tuesday, April 23, to finish the pavement rehabilitation project on highways U.S. 14/U.S. 14B/U.S. 83 and S.D. 34 through Pierre and Fort Pierre. This work was postponed due to the blizzard last week.

Public Input Wanted on the Environmental Study For a Potential New Interchange at I-29 and 85th Street
The South Dakota Department of Transportation (SDDOT), in collaboration with the Sioux Falls Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO), City of Sioux Falls, City of Tea and Lincoln County, will participate in a public open house on Wednesday, April 17, on a potential new interchange at Interstate 29 and 85th Street.


I-90 and I-29 Open
Officials are opening the closed portion of Interstate 90 from Chamberlain to Sioux Falls and I-29 from Sioux Falls to the North Dakota border effective immediately. All portions of closed Interstate are now open.

I-90 Opening From Wyoming Border to Rapid City
Officials are opening the closed portion of Interstate 90 between Rapid City and the Wyoming border at 9 a.m. MDT (10 a.m. CDT).


Significant Flooding Causing Hazardous Travel
Officials are advising motorists that heavy rains throughout the day have caused significant flooding in southeast and south central parts of the state, mostly south of I-90. There is also flooding east of Sioux Falls/I-29. Many roads are closed or have a No Travel Advised status.

I-90 Has Reopened – Travel Caution I-29 Remains Closed
Officials are opening Interstate 90 effective at 7 a.m. this morning (Sunday) between Wall and Mitchell. Interstate 29 remains closed from Watertown to the North Dakota border as winds are still high and causing heavy drifting in the northeast part of the state. Please do not anticipate the reopening of I-29 and park on the Interstate. This creates a traffic hazard for DOT crews working to clear the roadway as well as other motorists.

Illegally Dumped Snow Causing Problems
The South Dakota Department of Transportation is reminding the public and commercial snow removal operators that it is illegal to place or dump excess snow on highway right of way, which includes driving surfaces, shoulders and ditches.
