Coordinated Natural Resources Conservation Grants Awarded

Coordinated Natural Resources Conservation Grants Awarded

 

PIERRE, S.D. -- Twenty grant projects benefitting South Dakota’s natural resources were recently approved by the State Conservation Commission. The funds were awarded to 18 conservation districts that applied for funding through the Coordinated Natural Resources Conservation Fund.  The Fund is administered by the South Dakota Department of Agriculture (SDDA) on behalf of the State Conservation Commission.

 

Those conservation districts receiving funding include:

 

  • Aurora County Conservation District - $41,730 for the multi-purpose shelterbelt project
  • Beadle County Conservation District - $53,550 for the resource technician project and $69,550 for the shelterbelt project
  • Bennett County Conservation District - $10,488 for the Bennett/Shannon tree planting project
  • Bon Homme County Conservation District - $23,450 for the conservation enhancement project
  • Brown-Marshall Conservation District - $182,930 for the multi-purpose shelterbelt renovation project
  • Brule-Buffalo Conservation District - $38,000 for the south Missouri Coteau wetland/grassland project
  • Charles Mix County Conservation District - $8,513 for the technical assistance project
  • Corson County Conservation District - $17,500 for the resource conservation technician project
  • Day County Conservation District - $91,500 for the northeast glacial lakes project
  • Douglas County Conservation District - $12,346 for the tree planting and maintenance project
  • Hamlin County Conservation District - $19,958 for the Hamlin County tree and shrub program
  • Jackson County Conservation District - $8,889 for the shelterbelt establishment project
  • Jones County Conservation District - $80,000 for the ponds project II and $700 for the educational range tour
  • Lincoln County Conservation District - $3,025 for the Pattee Creek Watershed project
  • Marshall County Conservation District - $7,968 for the technical assistance project
  • Minnehaha County Conservation District - $42,043 for the shelterbelt renovation project
  • Sanborn County Conservation District - $2,647 for the 75 years of conservation history book project
  • Todd County Conservation District - $21,315 for the shelterbelt/windbreak project

 

Funding for the Coordinated Natural Resources Conservation Fund is provided by state law which states that $500,000 will be deposited into the fund on July 1 of each year.

 

Conservation districts may apply for grant funds at any time. Grant applications are typically reviewed in May and November each year.  Grant applications for the May grant round must be received by April 1 and grant applications for the November grant round must be received by October 1.  Conservation districts interested in the grant programs can call SDDA at 605-773-3623 or 1-800-228-5254 (in-state toll free), or visit our website at:
