Chris Young, Monster Truck Event Added to SD State Fair Grandstand Lineup
HURON, S.D. – Rising country star and 2011 Grammy nominee Chris Young will headline the South Dakota State Fair Grandstand on Sunday, Sept. 2. Also added to the State Fair Grandstand line-up are the Dakota State Fair Speedway Stock Car Races and Monster Truck Event.
Young has been climbing the charts since his self-titled debut album was released in 2006, earning him the award of best-selling new male country vocalist. He followed up with a second album, “The Man I Want To Be,” which nailed him three No. 1 hit singles. “Voices” was originally the first song released from the album, making its initial run up the charts in late 2008, only to make it just inside the Top 40. Luckily, the record company made the decision to release it again two years later and it soared to No. 1 on the charts.
After the success of his first two albums, Young released “NEON” in July 2011 which debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard Top 200 music chart and caused his career to skyrocket into country music fame.
“NEON” has had four No. 1 smash hits including “Tomorrow” and “You”, earning Young his first Grammy nomination. “You” recently held the top spot on the country charts.
“Chris Young is making his way in country music, and we are excited to have him as our headliner on Sunday,” said Jerome Hertel, South Dakota State Fair manager. “We are also pleased to add a monster truck event to our grandstand lineup this year. Fairgoers have been asking to see monster trucks at the State Fair for years, so it’s great to be able to deliver them.”
On Monday, Sept. 3, Dakota State Fair Speedway will host a monster truck event as well as stock car races.
Chris Young and the Dakota State Fair Speedway Monster Truck Event and Stock Car Races join the previously announced acts, Red Wilk Construction Championship Bull Riding (CBR) Bull Bash, Charley Pride with Williams and Ree and the Steve Miller Band. There will be an opening act for Chris Young.
Ticket prices will be posted on the SD State Fair website.
A pre-sale on tickets will begin June 18 for backrest holders, followed by Friends of the Fair ticket sales June 21. General public ticket sales will begin June 25.
