                                       News Tips for May 5-11, 2012

 

Sat.-Sun., May 5-13 – May 5-13 is National Travel & Tourism Week, and May 8 is designated as National Travel Rally Day. In celebration, the Dept. of Tourism is hosting two Travel Rally Day events: May 8 in Mitchell at the World’s Only Corn Palace; May 9 in Rapid City at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center. The events are meant to generate excitement in the visitor industry, and educate local citizens and leaders about the importance of travel and tourism, and the positive impact it has on the state’s economy. Monday – Wednesday, May 7-9, Ellsworth, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. MDT – The Transition Assistance Program (TAP) assists separating and retiring military personnel in their transition from military to civilian life.  This three day workshop is located in the Airman and Family Readiness Center (Rushmore Bldg.) and will include information on employment services and programs, resumes, interviews, and applications, and Veterans benefits information. Wednesday, May 9, Sioux Falls, 9:00 a.m. CDT:  The South Dakota Department of Revenue is hosting a Border Issues Seminar for business owners who conduct business in Minnesota and South Dakota.  The Sales & Use Tax workshop is scheduled from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.  The workshop for Construction Contractors starts at 1:00 p.m. and concludes at 4:00 p.m. Both workshops will be at the Morningside Community Center, 2400 S.
