Sat.-Sun., May 5-13 – May 5-13 is National Travel & Tourism Week, and May 8 is designated as National Travel Rally Day. In celebration, the Dept. of Tourism is hosting two Travel Rally Day events: May 8 in Mitchell at the World’s Only Corn Palace; May 9 in Rapid City at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center. The events are meant to generate excitement in the visitor industry, and educate local citizens and leaders about the importance of travel and tourism, and the positive impact it has on the state’s economy. In addition, several communities across the state will be hosting hospitality training courses as well as other community events in celebration of National Travel & Tourism Week, and the kickoff to the summer travel season.
