U.S. Highway 12 Construction Through Ipswich

IPSWICH, S.D. – The South Dakota Department of Transportation will begin the second phase of the U.S. Highway 12 reconstruction project through Ipswich on Thursday, May 17.

Construction is currently under way on Highway 12 from the junction of Highway 45 east for about three-quarters of a mile. The second phase of the project will extend construction to one-half mile west of the Highway 45 junction through Ipswich.

The work involves removing the existing surface, grading, and concrete paving. Motorists may encounter loose gravel and should slow down in the construction zone.

Highway 12 traffic is reduced to one lane in each direction through Ipswich with a 10-foot width restriction.

During operations that impact traffic, flaggers may be present to allow construction equipment to cross traffic.  Minor delays should be expected.

The contractor on the project is Upper Plains Contracting, Inc.
