Portion of Highway 73 in Jackson County Closed Due to Muddy Conditions
WINNER, S.D. – Due to muddy conditions, the South Dakota Department of Transportation is advising motorists that state Highway 73 in Jackson County is closed for three miles from the junction of Highway 44 south until further notice.
That stretch of highway is currently undergoing reconstruction, and the asphalt surfacing has been removed, leaving only a layer of dirt sub-base.
Recent and ongoing precipitation in the area has made the road impassable.
Loiseau Construction will have personnel on site to assist motorists in finding an alternate route and assist emergency vehicles that need to travel through the area.
Motorists are strongly encouraged to take an alternate route and visit www.safetravelusa.com/sd/ for road construction, closure, and opening information.
For more information contact the Winner Area Office at 605-842-3204.
