               Fall River County Fatal Crash 

What: One-vehicle fatal crash

Where: SD Highway 471, 8 miles north of Nebraska state line

When: Monday, May 28, 2012, 11:00 a.m. 

Driver: Danny R. Knepp, 63, Scottsbluff, NE, life-threatening injuries

Passenger: Kathleen R. Knepp, 58, Scottsbluff, NE, fatal
Vehicle 1: 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt 

ARDMORE, S.D. – A Nebraska woman died and her husband received life-threatening injuries in a one-vehicle crash on S.D. Highway 471 about six miles north of Ardmore, on Monday, May 28. 

Kathleen R. Knepp, 58, Scottsbluff, Neb., was the passenger in a 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt traveling north on Highway 471. Danny R. Knepp, 63, of Scottsbluff, was driving. He lost control of the vehicle after cresting a small hill. The Chevrolet left the roadway and rolled.

 Mrs. Knepp received fatal injuries, while Mr. Knepp suffered life-threatening injuries. He was transported to a Rapid City hospital. Knepp was wearing a seatbelt. Mrs. Knepp was wearing only the lap portion of the seatbelt. 

Speed is believed to be a factor in the crash. No further information is immediately available. 

The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating. Fall River Sheriff’s Office, Ardmore Volunteer Fire Department, Burlington Northern Sante Fe Railroad Co., and McColley’s Funeral Home assisted.
