What: Fatal motorcycle crash

Where: South Dakota Highway 10, mile marker 301.1

When: Wednesday, July 4, 2012, time unknown

Driver: Gregory Allen Freeland, 60, Houghton, SD, fatal

Vehicle: 2006 Yamaha V-Star

HOUGHTON, S.D. – A Houghton, S.D. man died in a motorcycle crash on S.D. Highway 10 in Brown County on July 4.

Gregory Freeland, 60, Houghton, S.D. was riding a Yamaha V-Star motorcycle westbound on South Dakota Highway 10 near mile marker 301. The vehicle entered the north ditch, rolled several times and the driver was thrown from the motorcycle. Freeland was not wearing a helmet.

The crash remains under investigation. No further information is immediately available. 

The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating. Brown County Sheriff's Office, Hecla Fire Department, and the Hecla Ambulance Service assisted.
