Harding County Fatal Crash
What: One Vehicle Fatal Crash
When: 5:20 pm, Saturday, July 7, 2012
Where: Camp Crook Road, 50 miles northwest of Belle Fourche, SD
Driver: Lawrence D. Ozuna, 45, Belle Fourche, SD, fatal
Passenger 1: Tari Warner, 31, Belle Fourche, SD, serious non-life threatening injuries
Passenger 2: Kenneth J. Piekkola, 59, Belle Fourche, SD, serious non-life threatening injuries
Vehicle: 2003 Chevy Impala
Alcohol involved: Yes
Investigation status: On- going
Description: A 2003 Chevy Impala driven by Lawrence D. Ozuna of Belle Fourche, S.D., was traveling north on Camp Crook Road. The vehicle crested a hill at a high rate of speed and the driver lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle entered into the west ditch where it rolled ejecting the driver, Lawrence D. Ozuna and back seat passenger Kenneth J. Piekkola. Lawrence Ozuna suffered fatal injuries in the crash. Kenneth Piekkola was airlifted from the scene to Rapid City Regional Hospital. The front seat passenger Tari Warner was seat belted in the vehicle. She was transported to Spearfish Regional Hospital with serious non-life threatening injuries.
