Names Released in Minnehaha County Fatal Crash
What: One-vehicle fatal crash
When: Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2012, 11:47 a.m.
Where: Interstate 90, mile marker 389, about two miles east of Hartford, SD exit
Driver: Bruce D. Iden, 61, Normal, IL, life-threatening injuries
Passenger: Barbara B. Iden, 61, Normal, IL, fatal
Vehicle: 2002 Harley Davidson motorcycle
HARTFORD, S.D. – An Illinois woman died and her husband was seriously injured in a single motorcycle crash about two miles east of the Hartford exit on Interstate 90 on Wednesday, Aug. 8.
Barbara B. Iden, 61, of Normal, Ill., was the passenger on a 2002 Harley Davidson motorcycle driven by Bruce D. Iden, 61, also of Normal. Bruce Iden lost control of the eastbound motorcycle, which overturned and came to a stop in the driving lane.
Both riders were thrown from the motorcycle. Neither was wearing a helmet. Barbara Iden was dead at the scene. Bruce Iden was taken to a Sioux Falls hospital with life-threatening injuries.
No further information is immediately available.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating. Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Office and the Sioux Falls Police Department assisted.
