Lincoln County Fatal Crash
What: Two-vehicle fatal crash
When: Thursday, Aug. 9, 2012, 8:50 a.m.
Where: Intersection US Highway 18 and 466th Ave, five miles east of Davis, SD
DAVIS, S.D. – One person died in a two-vehicle collision on Thursday, Aug. 9, at the intersection of U.S. Highway 18 and 466th Avenue about five miles east of Davis in Lincoln County.
The name is being withheld until relatives have been notified.
A 2000 Peterbilt semi-tractor was eastbound on Highway 18, pulling double tanker trailers. A 2002 Chevrolet Malibu was northbound on 466th Avenue. The Chevrolet came to a stop at the intersection and then began to cross the highway. It was struck by the Peterbilt and pushed into the ditch on the northeast corner of the intersection.
The driver of the Chevrolet received fatal injuries. The driver of the Peterbilt was uninjured. Both were wearing seatbelts and were the only occupants in their vehicles.
No further information is immediately available.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating. Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Lennox Fire Rescue, Lennox Police Department and Lennox Ambulance assisted.
