       Lawrence County Fatal Crash

 

What: Four Vehicle Fatal Crash

When:   4:38 pm, Oct. 26, 2012

Where:  SD 34 and Center Street in St. Onge

       

Driver 1: Quinn Kokesch, 23, St. Onge, fatal

Vehicle 1: 1990 Chevrolet pickup

 

Driver 2: Martin Olson, 38, Miller, S.D., no Injuries

Vehicle 2: 2006 Peterbilt Semi

 

Driver 3: Leon Thurston, 56, St. Onge, no Injuries

Vehicle 3: 1991 Chevrolet Corsica

 

Driver 4: Bruce Nordlee, 32, Rapid City, no Injuries

Vehicle 4: 1990 GMC Yukon

 

ST. ONGE, S.D.A St. Onge woman died in a crash that involved four vehicles on Friday, Oct. 26, at the intersection of South Dakota Highway 34 and Center Street in St. Onge.

 

Quinn Kokesch, 23, was traveling north on Center Street. It is reported that Kokesch stopped at the stop sign at the intersection of Center and Highway 34 and proceeded. Martin Olson, 38, of Miller was traveling west on Highway 34 in a semi and struck Kokesch’s 1990 Chevrolet pickup.

 

Leon Thurston, 56, of St. Onge was traveling east on Highway 34 and collided with the semi as it was sliding on the roadway. Bruce Nordlee, 32, of Rapid City was also traveling east when his GMC Yukon collided with Nordlee’s vehicle.

 

Olson, Thurston and Nordlee were uninjured.

 

Highway 34 was closed for several hours due to the crash investigation. No further information is immediately available.

 

The South Dakota Highway Patrol is Investigating. South Dakota Department of Transportation, Lawrence County Emergency Management, Lawrence County Sheriff Department and the St. Onge Fire Department assisted.
