South Dakota Department of Agriculture Seeks Input From Producers On Disaster Relief
PIERRE, S.D. - Coordinating efforts with the Governor’s Drought Task Force, the South Dakota Department of Agriculture (SDDA) is asking farmers and ranchers who struggled with this year’s extreme drought conditions to send their ideas on drought disaster relief.
“SDDA wants to know how we can best help our producers through this drought year,” said South Dakota Secretary of Agriculture Walt Bones. “Hearing their ideas first-hand is the best way to do that.”
Producers are encouraged to email their comments and suggestions by Friday, Nov. 16, to agmail@state.sd.us , call 605-773-5425, or write the South Dakota Department of Agriculture, 523 E Capitol Ave., Pierre, SD 57501.
Agriculture is South Dakota’s No. 1 industry, generating nearly $21 billion in annual economic activity and employing more than 80,000 South Dakotans. The South Dakota Department of Agriculture’s mission is to promote, protect, preserve and improve this industry for today and tomorrow.
