Pipeline Plastics, LLC Breaks Ground On Belle Fourche Plant

PIERRE, S.D. – Texas-based pipe manufacturer Pipeline Plastics LLC began construction this week on its new plant in Belle Fourche, South Dakota.

Pipeline Plastics produces High Density Polyethylene Pipe (HDPE) primarily for the end-use markets of mining, other industrial purposes, oil and gas, irrigation, potable water and sewer systems.

The plant will service the growing energy market in the Bakken Shale Formation in North Dakota and eastern Montana as well as energy markets in Wyoming, Colorado, and Utah.  It will also service mining, irrigation and municipal water distribution markets in those areas.

Gov. Dennis Daugaard spoke at the company’s ground-breaking ceremony earlier today.

“A company of the caliber of Pipeline Plastics is a welcome addition to our growing advanced manufacturing industry, and I’m sure it will have a tangible economic impact in this part of the state,” Gov. Daugaard said. “I welcome Pipeline Plastics as South Dakota’s newest corporate citizen, and I commend Belle Fourche officials for their persistence and dedication to economic development.”

The Belle Fourche plant is expected to become operational in the first quarter of 2013 and will bring 25 to 40 full-time jobs to the Belle Fourche area.

“New drilling technology has opened up United States’ oil and gas development, which has created unprecedented growth in the market for HDPE pipe,” said Keith Fisher, vice president, Pipeline Plastics. “With these advancements, we recognized an opportunity to expand our operations and feel fortunate to have found such an ideal location to grow our company.”

“I am excited to see the benefits and new partnerships that come with the presence of such a forward-thinking company,” said Belle Fourche Mayor Gary Hendrickson. “Along with the city council, I would like to warmly welcome Pipeline Plastics to Belle Fourche.”
