Schmidt Appointed to Value-Added Finance Authority Board

 

  

PIERRE, S.D. – Jim Schmidt of Sioux Falls has been appointed to the South Dakota Department of Agriculture’s (SDDA) Value Added Finance Authority board (VAFA).

 

Schmidt currently serves as chairman of the Lincoln County Commission. He also serves as the East River representative on the South Dakota Association of County Commissioners board of directors and is a member of the National Association of County Officials (NACO) board of directors. Schmidt serves as the vice chair of NACO’s Economic Development and Workforce Development Committee. He grew up on a family farm near Lennox, which he still farms today.

 

VAFA is a seven member board established to develop and promote agriculture in the state. The mission of VAFA is to provide lower cost financing for qualifying beginning farmers and agricultural businesses. Schmidt was appointed by Gov. Dennis Daugaard.
