Smith Receives Riki Nitz AER Worker of the Year Award

Smith Receives Riki Nitz AER Worker of the Year Award

 

ABERDEEN, S.D. –Division of Service to the Blind and Visually Impaired (SBVI) Program Specialist Bob Smith has been named the recipient of the 2016 Riki Nitz Association for the Education and Rehabilitation for the Blind and Visually Impaired (AER) Worker of the Year award.

 

The Riki Nitz “AER Worker of the Year” award is presented each year to an individual for their work with those who are blind and visually impaired.  Smith received the award at the annual AER Conference in Aberdeen.

 

Smith is employed at the South Dakota Rehabilitation Center for the Blind in Sioux Falls. Rehabilitation Center Manager Dawn Backer said, “Smith has such passion, commitment, loyalty, and dedication to helping others.”

 

The mission of SBVI is to provide individualized rehabilitation services that result in optimal employment and independent living outcomes for citizens who are blind or visually impaired. SBVI is a division of the Department of Human Services.
