State Developmental Center Staff Member Recognized By Dental Association

 

RAPID CITY, S.D. – South Dakota Development Center (SDDC) staff dentist Dr. Dave Peterson has been recognized for his work in the dental profession.

 

Peterson was named the “Honored Guest” at the South Dakota Dental Association’s (SDDA) annual conference in Rapid City. The honor is given to an individual who has exemplified exceptional service in the dental profession.

 

SDDC Interim Director Barb Abeln said “Peterson has long advocated for excellence in dental services for people with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities by presenting programs and educating students and the public on the need for services”.

 

During his career, Peterson has received the GOLD tooth award in 1979, a Presidential Citation in 1983, the South Dakota International College of Dentists Outstanding Dentist Award in 1983, and the Humanitarian Award in 2009 from the SDDA.

 

“Peterson is a well-liked and respected professional and SDDC is fortunate to have Peterson providing dental services for us”, said Abeln.

 

 Peterson has been employed as the staff dentist at SDDC since 1976.
