2016 South Dakota State Fair Temporary Vendor Sales Tax Revenues

 

HURON, S.D. – Tax revenues for the 2016 South Dakota State Fair totaled nearly $175,000 according to figures released by the Department of Revenue.

 

The latest figures available show the five-day fair in Huron, S.D., raised $174,652 in total tax revenues collected so far, which exceeds 2015’s total of $171,736. The fair featured a total of 427 vendors.

 

Of the $174,652 collected, $91,048 was state sales tax, $53,433 was municipal sales tax and $30,171 was state tourism tax.

 

“The State Fair is an event that all South Dakotans can be proud of,” said Department of Revenue Business Tax Division Director Doug Schinkel.”  “The Department of Revenue works hard each year to help make it a successful event for fair-goers and vendors alike.” 

Tax revenues from this year’s fair will continue to be collected over the next few weeks, even though the fair officially ended Sept. 5.
