PIERRE, S.D. – Some of the most up to date information about agriculture in South Dakota (SD) is available in the latest South Dakota Department of Agriculture’s (SDDA) “the common thread” brochure.

The majority of the information in “the common thread” is gathered by the US Department of Agriculture’s National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) office in SD.

Among the information available on the brochure are:

  • Average corn, soybeans and wheat yields over the past five decades
  • Individual crop acres harvested in 2015
  • Acres of forestland
  • Animal livestock inventory in 2015
  • SD’s rank in US agriculture for a variety of ag commodities

The 2016 “the common thread” brochure is available online on the SDDA website, http://sdda.sd.gov/office-of-the-secretary/publications/pdf/2016%20Common%20Thread%202016--FINAL.pdf or by calling SDDA at 605.773.4073.
