Department of Transportation & City of Pierre Seek Public Input into Northeast Pierre Master Transportation Plan Study

PIERRE, S.D. - The South Dakota Department of Transportation, in collaboration with the city of Pierre, will hold a public open house as part of the Northeast Pierre Master Transportation Plan. This open house public meeting will be held at 7 p.m. on Jan. 4, 2017, in the gymnasium at Kennedy Elementary School (2306 Brookstone Loop) in Pierre.
The Northeast Pierre Master Transportation Plan study will address a full range of transportation options and issues, including pedestrian, bicycle, transit, freight and automobile. The purpose of the meeting is to introduce the goals of the study to the public and start gathering feedback in how the community sees growth taking shape in the northeast portion of Pierre and adjacent areas of Hughes County south of Range Road / 205th Street. Future access along the U.S. 14/U.S. 83, land use, location of future roadways and pedestrian / bike mobility will all be topics that will be discussed.
For those who cannot attend the meeting or would like additional information on the study, information will be made available online after the meeting at www.pierrenestudy.com.
The meeting will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the location indicated. A brief, summarizing presentation will be made at approximately 7:05 p.m. followed by an open house discussion with SDDOT, city and consultant staff. The opportunity to present written comments will be provided. Written comments will be accepted until Jan. 18, 2017.
