State Prison Inmate Back In Custody
 

RAPID CITY, S.D.- A state prison inmate who was placed on escape status late last month is back in custody.
 

Joseph Standing Bear was apprehended in Rapid City earlier this week. He left his community service worksite in Rapid City without authorization Dec. 27 and failed to return to the Rapid City Community Work Center.
 

Standing Bear is currently housed at the Pennington County Jail.
 

Failure to return to custody following assignment constitutes second-degree escape, a class 5 felony, and is punishable by a maximum of 5 years in prison.
