Kingsbury County Fatal Crash
What: One-vehicle crash
Where: 200th Street, one mile east of Erwin, S.D.
When: 1:11 p.m., Friday, March 3, 2017
Driver: Female, 57, Fatal Injuries
Vehicle: 2004 Chevy Impala
ERWIN, S.D. – A 57-year-old woman was killed in a one-vehicle crash that occurred Friday near Erwin.
The name of the woman is not being released pending notification of family. She was the only person in the vehicle.
A 2004 Chevy Impala was westbound on 200th Street when the vehicle left the roadway and overturned on its roof in a semi-frozen slough.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. She was wearing a seatbelt.
Slippery road conditions and high winds are thought to have been factors in the crash.
South Dakota’s Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. Other agencies on scene were the Kingsbury County Sheriff’s Office, Lake Preston Ambulance and Lake Preston Fire and Rescue..
The Highway Patrol is part of the South Dakota Department of Public Safety.
