Gov. Daugaard Extends Capital For A Day Invitations

PIERRE, S.D. – Gov. Dennis Daugaard is extending an invitation to communities across the state to apply to be South Dakota’s Capital for a Day.

Activities for the day typically include a main street walk, business tours and a community social. The Governor also holds a roundtable lunch for community leaders to meet and discuss the needs of the city.

“When I took office, I decided to continue the Capital for a Day tradition started by Gov. George S. Mickelson because it gives me the opportunity to hear from South Dakotans,” Gov. Daugaard said.

Since 2011, Capital for a Day has been hosted by Mitchell, Canton, Onida, Volga, Hill City, Britton, De Smet, Viborg, Aberdeen, Lead-Deadwood, Flandreau, Wall, Parkston, Faulkton, Wessington Springs, Milbank, Kimball, Madison, Spearfish, Lake Norden, Lemmon and Yankton.

Interested communities should fill out an application and submit it to the Governor’s Office. For more information, contact Kris Erickson at 605-773-3212 or Kris.Erickson@state.sd.us.
