YANKTON, S.D. – The South Dakota Department of Transportation says work to reconstruct Highway 50 from Gayville to Archery Lane in Yankton will begin Monday, April 17.
The work being completed includes overlaying the existing surface with a Portland cement concrete overlay, replacing the curb and gutter and placing additional surfacing on driveways and approaches. This project will tie in to the Highway 50 construction project already underway.
A public information meeting will be held Tuesday, April 4, at 5:30 p.m. at Fire Station #2 located at 201 W. 23rd St. in Yankton.
There will be a 14-foot width restriction in place. Over-width and oversize traffic will need to find an alternate route while traffic is maintained in only two lanes.
The interim completion date is Oct. 14 with all work to be completed by Nov. 3.
PCI Roads from St. Michael, Minnesota, is the prime contractor on the $10 million project.
