Wednesday, April 12, 11:30 a.m. CDT, Watertown  Gov. Dennis Daugaard will speak at the 15th Annual Governor’s Leadership Luncheon at Lake Area Technical Institute.

 

Wednesday, April 12, 2 p.m. CDT, Madison  Gov. Dennis Daugaard will speak at the National Center for Women & Information Technology (NCWIT) Aspiration Awards at the Science Center at Dakota State University.

 

Thursday, April 13, 11:30 a.m. MDT, Rapid City Gov. Dennis Daugaard will speak at the ribbon cutting ceremony for the Chemical and Biological Engineering expansion at the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology.

 

Monday, April 10, 1 p.m. Vermillion – Lt. Gov. Matt Michels will speak at the STREAM Lab ribbon cutting at Jolley Elementary in Vermillion.

 

Wednesday, April 12, Watertown – First Lady Linda Daugaard will visit the Watertown High School Library in honor of National Library Week. Gov. Dennis Daugaard has proclaimed April 10-16 South Dakota Library Week in honor of the vital and continually evolving role of libraries in schools and communities. April is also School Library Month.

Monday, April 10, to Thursday, April 13 – Bring Your ‘A’ Game to Work encompasses seven different skills including Appreciation, Attitude, Attendance, Appearance, Ambition, Accountability and Acceptance. These soft skills and a willingness to take direction are generally more desired by employers than the specific skills a particular job requires. This is an 8-hour course offered in a one-day setting or in two four-hour settings. This workshop will be offered at the following locations:

  • Monday, April 10, 4 – 8 p.m. MDT, Rapid City – at the Career Learning Center, 730 E. Watertown St. This is the first of a two-part class. The cost of the entire course is $175 per person and includes a participant workbook and a work ethic proficiency exam. For more information, call the Career Learning Center at 605-394-5120.

  • Wednesday, April 12, 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. CDT, Sioux Falls – at Southeast Technical Institute, 2320 N. Career Ave. This 8-hour course will prepare you to earn the Certificate of Work Ethic Proficiency through an online assessment. The cost is $99 per participant. Tuesday, April 11, to Thursday, April 13 – The South Dakota Department of Labor and Regulation will host Job Search Assistance Programs (JSAP). JSAP is a workshop for people recovering from job loss or enhancing their job search skills. Trained instructors speak on modern-day techniques used to successfully find employment. Topics covered are: resume and cover letter writing, interviewing etiquette, networking effectively, using social media and much more. JSAP will be offered at the following locations:
