NORTH SIOUX CITY, S.D. – South Dakota Department of Transportation officials say bridge repair work on Interstate 29 between North Sioux City and Exit 53 will begin the week of April 10, 2017.
Contractors will be repairing and upgrading the bridges at Exit 53, mile marker 30.92, Exit 26, Exit 4, Exit 2 and mile marker 0.05. Work involves bridge deck joint repair and overlays, approach pavement replacement, abutment and column repair, concrete barrier modification and guardrail replacement.
Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction on the interstate mainline and to one lane on the interchange bridges. Two lane cross roads will be maintained with temporary signal systems.
Motorists are asked to watch for suddenly slowing and merging traffic, and be aware of construction workers and equipment adjacent to the driving lane. Traffic will be separated from the work zone by concrete barrier dividers.
PCI Roads LLC of St. Michael, Minnesota is the prime contractor on the $3.6 million project.
Work is expected to be completed by Nov. 1.
