SPEARFISH, S.D. – The South Dakota Department of Transportation says the median of Colorado Boulevard and 26th Street will close on Monday, April 17.
This is being done so the contractor can complete the concrete paving in the median and westbound turn lane. This work is expected to be complete and back open to traffic in two weeks.
Access to 26th Street from Colorado Boulevard will be reduced to right-in and right-out access. Motorists intending to turn left will need to make a U-turn at 27th Street or at the entrance into Heritage Plaza by KFC.
The contractor will also start work on completing concrete paving on Colorado Boulevard at White’s Canyon Motors and in the northwest corner of the intersection of 27th Street and Colorado Boulevard.
Motorists are asked to slow down through the work zone, be on the lookout for flaggers, be prepared for suddenly slowing, merging and stopped traffic, and construction workers and equipment entering, exiting and adjacent to the roadway.
Heavy Constructors, Inc., of Rapid City is the prime contractor on this $28 million project. The overall completion date for the project is June 1, 2018.
