Vendors at the 2017 Sturgis® Motorcycle Rally™ may now apply for a South Dakota tax license

PIERRE, S.D. – The South Dakota Department of Revenue is now accepting sales tax license applications for the 2017 Sturgis® Motorcycle Rally™.

 

Vendors doing business at the 2017 rally are required to have a South Dakota sales tax license for each vendor space before opening for business in South Dakota. The deadline to apply is July 14.

 

How vendors can apply:
• Electronically submit an application at http://sd.gov/sturgisapp.
• Fax an application to 605-394-6076.
• Mail an application to the South Dakota Department of Revenue, 1520 Haines Ave., Suite 3, Rapid City, SD 57701.

 

Vendors who apply before July 1 may elect to have their vendor license card and additional information mailed to them or they can pick the items up when arriving in Sturgis.
Vendors who apply after July 1 must pick up the license card and additional information after arriving in Sturgis.

 

The Department of Revenue’s temporary office in Sturgis opens Aug. 1 at 9 a.m. MDT. For a listing of office hours, visit http://sd.gov/rally. If vendors need to pick up license cards before Aug. 1, visit the Department of Revenue’s office in Rapid City.

 

Vendors will also need to apply for a South Dakota Temporary Manufacturer, Customizer or Dealer Permit if selling or displaying any type of vehicle. These applications are available at the department’s website.
