Marshall County Fatal Crash


What:      Two Vehicle Crash

Where:   418th Ave. and 122nd St.

                Two miles west and two miles north of Langford, S.D.

When:    3:53 p.m. Tuesday, June 13, 2017


Driver No. 1:  Female, 27, Serious Non-Life Threatening Injuries

Passengers: Female, 8 months old, Fatal Injuries

                        Male, 7 years old, Life Threatening Injuries

Vehicle: 2004 Pontiac Grand Am


Driver No. 2: Female, 48, Minor Injuries

Vehicle: 2015 Cadillac SRX


LANGFORD, S.D. – An eight-month-old female died Tuesday in a two-vehicle crash near Langford.


Three other people were injured. No names are being released pending notification of families.


A 2004 Pontiac Grand Am was eastbound on 122nd Street when it failed to yield at the uncontrolled intersection. The vehicle collided with a 2015 Cadillac SRX going north on 418th Avenue.


All three occupants in the Grand Am were injured. That included the deceased, who was in the back seat; the female driver, 27, who suffered serious non-life threatening injuries and the front-seat male passenger, seven, who sustained life-threatening injuries.


Both injured occupants were taken by ambulance to an Aberdeen hospital. Seatbelt usage by the three remains under investigation.


The 48-year-old female driver of the other vehicle received minor injuries. She was taken to a hospital in Britton by her husband. She was wearing a seatbelt.


Charges are pending against the driver of the Grand Am.


South Dakota’s Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. Other agencies on scene were the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office, Marshall County Ambulance and Langford Fire and Rescue.


The Highway Patrol is part of the South Dakota Department of Public Safety.
