Eight USD Programs Approved for Western Regional Graduate Student Exchange

PIERRE, S.D. Eight graduate programs offered by the University of South Dakota will become part of the Western Regional Graduate Program operated by the Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education (WICHE). The South Dakota Board of Regents, meeting Thursday in Pierre, was briefed on the program.

The Western Regional Graduate Program offers students access to master’s and doctoral degree programs that are of demonstrated quality and not widely available in the western region. Exchange programs like this allow South Dakota to recruit additional students into programs where there is capacity, while giving South Dakota students opportunities to pursue specialized programs elsewhere that are not offered in state.

Four specializations within USD’s Master of Business Administration degree were approved to participate in the program. Those MBA specializations are:

Business Analytics;

Operations and Supply Chain Management; and

Health Services Administration.

Other USD programs approved for the exchange are:

Master of Professional Accountancy;

Counseling and Psychology in Education;

Human Development and Educational Psychology; and

School Psychology.

Graduate students from WICHE member states who enroll in the eligible programs now qualify for the resident graduate tuition rate, rather than a higher out-of-state rate. WICHE states and territories participating in this program include Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington, Wyoming, Guam, and Commonwealth of Northern Mariana Islands.
