Gov. Dennis Daugaard’s Public Commitments; Public Meetings:

 

Tuesday, Sept. 26, 9 a.m. CDT, Beresford – Gov. Dennis Daugaard will speak at the groundbreaking for the Hybrid Turkeys Hatchery in Beresford.

 

Tuesday, Sept. 26, Noon – 3 p.m. CDT, Sioux City, Iowa - Gov. Dennis Daugaard will attend the 15th Tri-State Governors’ Conference. Governors attending are Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds, South Dakota Governor Dennis Daugaard and Nebraska Governor Pete Ricketts.

 

Wednesday, Sept. 27, 10 a.m. MDT, Rapid City - Gov. Dennis Daugaard will speak at the activation ceremony for 93 soldiers of the South Dakota National Guard 189th Aviation Regiment Deployment who will serve a year-long mission providing aerial medical evacuation support in the Middle East. The ceremony will be held at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center in Rapid City.

Tuesday and Wednesday, Sept. 26-27, 9 a.m. CDT, Pierre – DENR staff will host two days of Visible Emission Evaluation Certification in Pierre. The “Fall Smoke School” classroom session will be held in the Floyd L. Matthew Environmental Education and Training Center in the Joe Foss Building, located at 523 E. Capitol Ave. in Pierre. The field certification will be held at the National Guard Armory, located at 3400 E. Highway 34 in Pierre. Certification is open to those from industry, municipalities, consultants or anyone who would like to be certified to evaluate visible emissions (smoke/dust) to ensure emissions are in compliance with state and federal air quality standards. Thursday, September 28, Custer State Park - Custer State Park will host the grand re-opening of the Peter Norbeck Outdoor Education Center in conjunction with the annual Buffalo Roundup Arts Festival. This historic building previously housed the Custer State Park Visitor Center. It has been renovated to become the new Outdoor Education Center. The Peter Norbeck Outdoor Education Center will be open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. MDT on Thursday and Friday, Sept. 28 and 29, and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 30. Thursday-Saturday, September 28-30, Custer State Park – The Buffalo Roundup Arts Festival will bring music, art, crafts and fun for the entire family to Custer State Park. The annual event runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. MDT on Thursday and Friday and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday. The Arts Festival takes place near the State Game Lodge. Friday, September 29, Custer State Park – The 52nd Annual Buffalo Roundup will take place near the corrals along Wildlife Loop Road. Parking areas open at 6:15 a.m. MDT and close at 9 a.m. For safety reasons, spectators need to remain in the viewing areas until all the buffalo are corralled, which typically occurs around noon.
