McCook County Fatal Crash


What:    One-vehicle crash

Where:  248th Street and Valley Road

              Six miles north of Montrose

When:   5:31 a.m., Friday, Nov. 17, 2017


Driver: Female, 41, Fatal Injuries

Vehicle: 2003 Dodge Caravan


MONTROSE S.D. –  A 41-year-old female died Friday morning in a one-vehicle crash north of Montrose.


The name of the deceased is not being released pending notification of family. She was the only occupant.


A 2003 Dodge Caravan was eastbound on 248th Street approaching a curve when the driver lost control. The vehicle went into the ditch, rolled and started on fire.  


The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. It is not known whether she was wearing a seatbelt.


South Dakota’s Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. Other agencies on scene were McCook County Sheriff’s Office and Montrose Fire Department.


The Highway Patrol is part of the South Dakota Department of Public Safety.
