Butte County Fatal Crash

 

What:    Two-vehicle crash

Where:  U.S. Highway 212 mile marker 17

              Three miles east of Belle Fourche, S.D.

When:   3:13 p.m., Friday, Nov. 24, 2017

 

Driver 1: Male, 52, fatal injuries

Vehicle 1: 2004 Dodge Caravan

 

Driver 2: Male, 63, fatal injuries

Vehicle 2: 1998 Cadillac Seville SLS

 

BELLE FOURCHE, S.D. – Two men died Saturday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash east of Belle Fourche.

 

A 2004 Dodge Caravan was driving westbound on U.S. Highway 212 near mile marker 17 in Butte County. The Caravan crossed the center line and struck a 1998 Cadillac Seville SLS that was traveling eastbound at the same location.

 

Both drivers were deceased at the scene.

 

The driver of the Dodge Caravan was wearing a seatbelt. The driver of the Cadillac Seville was not wearing a seatbelt.

 

South Dakota’s Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. Other agencies on scene were Butte County Sheriff’s Office, Belle Fourche Police Department, Belle Fourche Fire Department, Belle Fourche Ambulance and Meade County Sheriff’s Office.

 

The Highway Patrol is part of the South Dakota Department of Public Safety.
