Sobriety Checkpoints Planned for December

 

PIERRE, S.D. –  Sobriety checkpoints are planned in 17 counties during the month of December.

 

A total of 23 checkpoints statewide have been announced by the South Dakota Department of Public Safety. The checkpoints are designed to discourage people from drinking and then driving. 

 

December’s schedule of checkpoints include the counties of: Beadle, Brown, Brule, Clay, Codington, Davison, Day, Hughes, Jackson, Lawrence, Lincoln, Minnehaha, Moody, Pennington, Stanley, Walworth and Union.

 

The monthly checkpoints are funded by the South Dakota Office of Highway Safety and conducted by the Highway Patrol.  Both the Office of Highway Safety and the Highway Patrol are part of the Department of Public Safety.
