Closed Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2018

PIERRE, S.D. – Chamberlain’s driver license exam station will be closed Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2018.

The station is closed so employees can train on the new driver’s license issuance equipment which is being installed in exam stations statewide.

Driver License Director Jane Schrank says the Chamberlain exam station will reopen as scheduled on Tuesday, Jan. 9 in the courthouse at 300 S. Courtland St. Regular hours are 8:30 a.m.-4:15 p.m. each Tuesday.

Schrank reminds people that they have 180 days prior to the expiration date to renew their license. For information about online renewal or what documents are needed for a license renewal and a list of exam stations, go to: https://dps.sd.gov/driver-licensing/. If your license will expire before Jan. 9th and you aren’t able to renew online, please call the DL’s central office at 605-773-6883 for an extension.

An estimated 225,000 driver licenses and ID cards are either applied for or renewed each year in South Dakota.
