DENR to Host 30th Annual Environmental and Ground Water Quality Conference

PIERRE, S.D. – The 30th Annual South Dakota Environmental and Ground Water Quality Conference will be held March 28-29 at the Ramkota Hotel and Conference Center in Pierre.

The state Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) hosts the conference, which will consist of exhibits by vendors and technical presentations by presenters from South Dakota, North Dakota, Montana, Utah, Minnesota and Nebraska. Presentations will cover new and cutting-edge technology developments related to the environment, ground water, geology, mining and mineral resources.

For a complete agenda, visit http://denr.sd.gov/GWQConference/.

“Are you interested in learning more about riparian buffers used to protect surface water quality? Or if you are more into groundwater quality, how about listening to an overview of the quality in some of South Dakota’s shallow aquifers? Do you want to learn how some groundwater supply evaluations are being done with an emphasis on sustainability into the future? Or if you are more of a history buff, you may find historical contaminants related to building construction in downtown Sioux Falls interesting?” asks DENR Secretary Steve Pirner. “If so, DENR invites you to attend presentations on these topics and more at this year’s 30th Annual Environmental and Ground Water Quality Conference.”

The conference is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Georgina Smith or Kayla Fawcett, conference coordinators for DENR, (605) 773-3296.
