Gov. Daugaard Presented 2018 Leadership for All Award

PIERRE, S.D. – Gov. Dennis Daugaard has been presented the 2018 Leadership for All award by the Association of University Centers on Disabilities (AUCD).

“I am humbled by this recognition,” said Gov. Daugaard. “We can be proud South Dakota ranks second in the nation for the number of people with disabilities who are employed. I want to thank all of the employers who share my priority of making South Dakota an ‘employment first state’ and for recognizing the value people with disabilities bring to the workplace.”

The AUCD recognized Gov. Daugaard for his leadership in increasing employment opportunities for South Dakotans with disabilities and their families.

South Dakota Department of Human Services (DHS) Cabinet Secretary Gloria Pearson said, “DHS is very pleased to have benefited from the leadership of Gov. Daugaard who has supported all the department’s efforts to increase employment opportunities for people with disabilities.”

Jacqueline Sly accepted the award on behalf of the Governor on Mar. 20 during the 3rd annual AUCD for All Gala in Washington D.C.

The AUCD Gala brings together leaders in disability policy, advocacy and programs at the community, state and federal levels to foster long-term partnerships and collaborations.
