Names Released in Lyman County Fatal Crash


What:    One-vehicle crash

Where:  Interstate 90, mile marker 219

              Six miles west of Presho, S.D.

When:   11:09 a.m., Thursday, April 5, 2018


Occupants:  Bill Holt, 57, Rapid City, S.D., Fatal Injuries

                      Male, 14, Greenwood, IN, Life-Threatening Injuries

                      Male, 16, Greenwood, IN, Life-Threatening Injuries

Vehicle: 2008 Kia Sorento


PRESHO, S.D. – A Rapid City, S.D. man has been identified as the person who died Thursday morning in a one-vehicle crash that occurred Thursday morning west of Presho.


Two others, both juvenile males, received life-threatening injuries.


A 2008 Kia Sorento was westbound on Interstate 90 when the vehicle left the roadway, entered into the ditch and rolled.


All three occupants, who were not wearing seatbelts, were thrown from the vehicle. Bill Holt, 57, was pronounced dead at the scene. The two other male occupants, ages 16 and 14, sustained life-threatening injuries. They were taken by ambulance to the Pierre hospital and then flown to Sioux Falls.


South Dakota’s Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.


The Highway Patrol is part of the South Dakota Department of Public Safety.
