LEMMON, S.D. – The South Dakota Department of Transportation says construction work on highways 12 and 73 near Lemmon will begin Monday, April 23, weather permitting.

Construction will take place from the North Dakota border on Highway 12 east through Lemmon and on Highway 73 from Summerville north to the Highway 12/73 junction.

The contractor will be widening the existing shoulders, reshaping the ditches, installing new box culverts, upgrading cross pipe culverts, adding curb ramps, replacing luminaire lighting and permanent traffic control signs.

There will be an 11-foot width restriction in place and motorists can expect delays up to 15 minutes, suddenly slowing and stopped traffic as well as construction workers and equipment adjacent to the driving lane.

The overall completion date for the project is Nov. 16, 2018.

The prime contractor on this  $15.6 million project is Loiseau Construction, Inc. from Flandreau.
