Bon Homme County Fatal Crash


What:    Two-vehicle crash

Where:  South Dakota Highway 50, mile marker 355

               One mile west of Tyndall, S.D.

When:   11:19 a.m., Thursday, May 10, 2018


Driver No. 1: Female, 92, Fatal Injuries

Vehicle: 2010 Ford Fusion


Driver No. 2: Male, 41, No Injuries

Vehicle: 2006 Peterbilt 7500 Semi-Tractor Trailer


TYNDALL, S.D. – One person died Thursday morning in a two-vehicle crash west of Tyndall.


The name of the deceased is not being released pending notification of family. The second person involved was not injured.


A  2010 Ford Fusion was southbound on Ford Road when it traveled through the intersection of Ford Road and South Dakota Highway 50. The vehicle, which did not yield for a yield sign, collided with a 2006 Peterbilt 7500 semi-tractor trailer that was eastbound on SD Highway 50.


The 92-year-old female driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene. She was not wearing a seatbelt. The semi-truck driver, a 41-year-old male, was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured.


South Dakota’s Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. 


The Highway Patrol is part of the South Dakota Department of Public Safety.
