Department of Transportation Seeks Public Input into the I-90 Exit 387 (Western Avenue - Hartford) Interchange Study

COLMAN, S.D. - The South Dakota Department of Transportation (SDDOT), in collaboration with the Sioux Falls Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) and the city of Hartford, will hold a public open house from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 28, at the Hartford Area Fire & Rescue Station, (305 South Street) to inform area residents of the beginning of the study and introduce and begin receiving public input on the environmental study for the I-90 Exit 387 (Western Avenue - Hartford) Interchange.


The open house will be informal allowing for one-on-one discussion with the study team. The purpose for the open house is to inform the public of the study’s intent, to record any concerns the public may have along the study’s corridor and to gather ideas to help determine the future look of the corridor along Western Avenue between 260th Street / Mickelson Road and 261st Street, including improvement options to the Exit 287 Interchange along I-90. A short presentation will be given at approximately 6:10 p.m.  Area residents, business owners and daily commuters are encouraged to attend and participate in the study. The Environmental Assessment process for the project will also be introduced at the public information meeting. The opportunity to present written comments will be provided.  Written comments will be accepted until July 12, 2018. 


For those who cannot attend the open house or would like additional information on the overall study, information is available online at www.I90Exit387Study.com. The presentations and displays shown at the open house will be available online within a few days after the open house meeting. The website also allows for online comments to be submitted. The study team would appreciate hearing from the area commuters, concerned citizens, and adjacent landowners and business owners throughout the study period.
