August Sobriety Checkpoints Announced

 

PIERRE, S.D. – August will be a busy month as 32 sobriety checkpoints are planned throughout South Dakota.

 

Department of Public Safety officials say the checkpoints are scheduled for 21 counties.

 

The checkpoints are designed to discourage motorists from drinking and then driving. The checkpoints are funded by the South Dakota Office of Highway Safety and conducted by the South Dakota Highway Patrol. 

 

August checkpoints are scheduled for the counties of: Brookings, Brown, Brule, Butte, Codington, Davison, Day, Fall River, Hamlin, Hughes, Jackson, Kingsbury, Lake, Lincoln, Meade,  Minnehaha, Moody, Pennington, Roberts, Spink and Yankton.

 

Both the Office of Highway Safety and the Highway Patrol are part of the Department of Public Safety.
