At 11:04 a.m., Saturday, South Dakota Highway 89, mile marker 63, eight miles north of Custer: A motorcycle was southbound when the male driver failed to negotiate a curve. The vehicle went into the east ditch and tipped over, throwing off the driver. The driver, 70, suffered serious non-life threatening injuries. He was wearing a helmet.

 

At noon Saturday, U.S. Highway 16A, mile marker 30, seven miles east of Custer: Two motorcycles were westbound on U.S. Highway 16A when the first motorcycle signaled to make a right-hand turn. The second motorcycle tried to pass the first motorcycle on that side and both collided. The male driver of the first motorcycle, 61, suffered minor injuries. The female passenger, 54, sustained serious non-life threatening injuries. Neither was wearing a helmet. The male driver of the second motorcycle, 67, suffered minor injuries while the female passenger, 63, sustained serious non-life threatening injuries. Both occupants were wearing helmets.

 

At 2:53 p.m., Old Hill City Road, four miles east of Hill City: A motorcycle was on Old Hill City Road when the driver failed to negotiate a right-hand turn. The motorcycle left the roadway, entered the ditch and hit a fence. The male driver, 57, suffered minor injuries. He was not wearing a helmet.

 

At 5:07 p.m., Vanocker Canyon Road, two miles north of Nemo: Two motorcycles were northbound on Nemo Road when the first motorcycle began to slow down. The second motorcycle tried to brake, but collided with the first motorcycle. The two occupants of the first motorcycle, the 39-yar-old male driver and the 34-year-old female passenger, were not injured. They were not wearing helmets. The female passenger of the second motorcycle, 40, suffered minor injuries. She was wearing a helmet.
