Highway Patrol Superintendent Joins IACP Executive Board

PIERRE, S.D. – The superintendent of South Dakota’s Highway Patrol has been elected to the executive board of a worldwide law enforcement organization.

Col. Craig Price will join the executive board of the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP). The organization serves as the professional voice of law enforcement and works to address issues facing law enforcement through advocacy, programs, research, training and other services.

“I have enjoyed my association with the IACP,” says Col. Price. “It is a chance to create relationships with other law enforcement professionals representing various agencies and discuss with them how they deal with issues similar to the ones facing the Highway Patrol.”

While on the executive board, Col. Price will serve as the representative for the State and Provincial (S&P) Police division of the IACP. Col. Price, who was named as Highway Patrol Superintendent in 2011, is the first South Dakota Highway Patrol Superintendent to serve on the IACP executive board.

“Colonel Price was chosen as a member of the Executive Board because he exemplifies a high-level of commitment to the Association’s values and to the law enforcement profession,” says IACP President Louis M. Dekmar, who is Chief of the LaGrange, GA, Police Department. “I look forward to working with Colonel Price.”

The South Dakota Highway Patrol is part of the South Dakota Department of Public Safety.
