Roadway Lighting Work to Begin in Hot Springs

HOT SPRINGS, S.D. – According to the South Dakota Department of Transportation a roadway lighting project is scheduled to start on the Highway 18 bypass in Hot Springs on Monday, Sept. 24.

 

Work will take place from Big Bat’s Gas Station going west four blocks to the City of Hot Springs water filling station.

 

Through this area, the contractor will move traffic from the eastbound lane to the center turn lane and westbound traffic will remain in the westbound lane.

 

The project includes removing old light poles and foundations, trenching and boring new electrical conduit and installing new light poles and foundations.

 

The contractor expects work to be complete by Friday, Oct. 5. The final completion date is Oct. 12.

 

Motorists are asked to slow down and be aware of suddenly slowing and merging traffic as well as construction workers and equipment working adjacent to the shoulder.

 

The prime contractor on this $391,000 project is Muth Electric, Inc of Mitchell.
