MCINTOSH, S.D. - The South Dakota Department of Transportation says centerline painting on the following highways in central South Dakota planned to start on Tuesday, Oct. 9 was delayed by weather and will begin on Friday, Oct. 19.

  • Highway 65 from junction with Highway 12 to the Grand River
  • Highway 12 from west of McIntosh to five miles east of the Highway 65 junction
  • Highway 20 from Timber Lake to the junction with Highway 12

The contractor will be grinding five to 10 miles of new centerline, followed by painting the centerline in each section by the end of each day. Each project is expected to take two to three days to complete.

Motorists are advised that crews with three to five vehicles all together will be moving slowly down the road at 10 mph or less in the section of highway they are working on and can expect delays, areas of no centerline and wet paint around the work area during the daytime hours

The contractor for the $226,000 Pierre regionwide striping project is Traffic Safety Services Company of Black Hawk.
