Minnehaha County Fatal Crash


What:    One-vehicle crash

Where:  Interstate 90, mile marker 379

               At Humboldt, S.D. exit

When:   1:23 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2018


Driver: Male, 54, Fatal Injuries

Vehicle: 1997 Pontiac Grand Am


HUMBOLDT, S.D. – One man died early Wednesday afternoon in a one-vehicle crash at the Humboldt exit on Interstate 90.


The name of the deceased is not being released pending notification of family members. He was the only person involved in the crash.


A 1997 Pontiac Grand Am was westbound on I-90 when the driver lost control of the vehicle while traveling across a bridge. The vehicle slid into the median, collided with guard wires and then rolled onto its roof.  


The 54-year-old driver was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a seatbelt.


South Dakota’s Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash.


The Highway Patrol is part of the South Dakota Department of Public Safety.
