Name Released in Lyman County Fatal Crash

 

What:    One-vehicle crash

Where:  S.D. Highway 47, mile marker 42

               One-half mile south of Iona, S.D.

When:   3:30 a.m., Monday, Dec. 3, 2018

 

Driver: Michelet Joseph, 34, Houston, Texas, Fatal Injuries

Vehicle: 2006 Hino FB Truck

 

IONA, S.D. – A Houston, Texas man has been identified as the person who died early Monday morning in a one-vehicle crash south of Iona in Lyman County.

  

A 2006 Hino FB truck was northbound on South Dakota Highway 47 when the driver failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway. The driver lost control of the vehicle which crossed the southbound lane, entered the west ditch and rolled onto its top.

 

Michelet Joseph, the 34-year-old driver, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was wearing a seatbelt.

 

South Dakota’s Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash.

 

The Highway Patrol is part of the South Dakota Department of Public Safety.
