Inmate Michael LeClaire Placed on Escape Status

YANKTON, S.D.- A state prison inmate has been placed on escape status.

Inmate Michael LeClaire failed to return to the Yankton Community Work Center from his work release job at the designated time Jan. 7.

LeClaire is a 34-year-old Native American male. He is 6 feet 2 and weighs 200 pounds. He has black hair and dark eyes.

LeClaire is serving a 4-year sentence for DWI 4th offense from Roberts County.

If you see LeClaire or know of his whereabouts, contact law enforcement.

Failure to return from a work assignment is considered second-degree escape, a Class 5 felony punishable by a maximum of 5 years in prison.
